What you need
- An Android phone with TypeRoam installed and signed in.
- Active TypeRoam Pro access.
- A supported Mac or Windows computer connected to the internet.
- The TypeRoam desktop companion from typeroam.com.
Install the desktop companion
On the computer, open the TypeRoam download section. Install the Mac or Windows companion and launch it. Keep the desktop app open while pairing and whenever you want the computer to receive text.
On macOS, grant Accessibility permission when requested. TypeRoam uses this permission to insert text into the field you are actively using. If macOS still shows permission as missing, remove the old TypeRoam entry from Accessibility, reopen the installed app, add it again, and restart TypeRoam.
Pair the phone and computer
- Open the TypeRoam desktop companion.
- Choose Generate pairing code. The code is temporary.
- On Android, open TypeRoam → Settings → Remote Type.
- Tap Pair computer and enter the six-digit code shown on the computer.
- After pairing, select the computer from the phone. Its status should show online while the desktop companion is connected.
Choose Direct voice or Review first
Direct voice
Tap the microphone, speak, and tap again to finish. TypeRoam converts the recording and inserts the completed transcript into the active field on the computer. The phone does not require a separate manual insert step.
Review first
Type or dictate into the phone's draft area, check the text, then tap Insert on computer. The draft stays on the phone until you deliberately send it.
Before sending, click the exact text field on the computer where you want the words to appear. Remote Type inserts text into the field that is active at that moment.
Remote Type troubleshooting
The computer shows offline
Open the desktop companion and verify that both devices have internet access. VPN routing, corporate firewalls, sleep mode, or a closed desktop app can interrupt the connection.
The text goes to the wrong place
Click the intended desktop field immediately before finishing Direct voice or tapping Insert on computer. Avoid changing windows while the request is processing.
The pairing code is invalid
Generate a new code in the desktop app and enter it promptly. Each pairing code is short-lived and can be used only once.
The Mac has permission but cannot insert text
Confirm that Accessibility permission belongs to the currently installed TypeRoam app, not an older copy in another folder. Quit and reopen the desktop companion after changing permission.
